The Unapologetic Capitalist is a forum to cultivate and encourage the building of significant long-term value in any venture. This is a place for entrepreneurs, business executives, consultants, and anyone who is compelled by innovation and free enterprise. The Unapologetic Capitalist is a discussion to constructively explore and push the thinking on creating and building optimal business ventures.

AB Gerlach is a seasoned, strategic management consultant, serial entrepreneur, investor, business executive, and lecturer with expertise in, and a passion for, building businesses. Ms. Gerlach has done extensive research in optimizing the business start-­‐up process and has founded and built businesses in industries that include consumer packaged goods, media, technology, and professional services. Prior to her entrepreneurial endeavors, she was a strategic management consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton working with Fortune 100 media and consumer companies. 

Today, Ms. Gerlach continues to build and invest in companies in a variety of stages and industries. As a strategic management consultant, she continues to advise select companies, as well as work with multibillion-­‐dollar asset management and alternative investment funds on their investment allocation strategies. She has written various papers focused on entrepreneurship, business building and growth strategies, alternative investment funds, optimal investment allocation and a range of venture topics. She sits on the board of private equity funds as well as select early stage ventures.

Ms. Gerlach is also an active academic. For the past ten years, she has served on the advisory committee of Entrepreneurship @ Cornell and was the Entrepreneur in Residence for Cornell University during the 2011‐2012 academic year. In addition, she has taught courses in the Management department at San Diego State University and frequently guest lecturers at top universities.

Ms. Gerlach graduated at the top of her class from the MIT Sloan School of Management earning an MBA with focus on New Venture Development and Systems Optimization. She earned her BA in economics and mathematics from Cornell University.
